Praxedo Unveils the Praxedo Mobile Solution for BlackBerry Smartphones

A solution for managing and monitoring service calls in real time that delivers higher business productivity

Paris, France - Praxedo, a software publisher specializing in the provision of computerized services to field workers, announces today the rollout of the Praxedo Mobile solution for BlackBerry® smartphones.

Suited to maintenance, after-sales service, inspection, survey work, personal service and transport environments, Praxedo Mobile is a software package that helps businesses schedule and track the service calls of their field workers in real time. Companies that use it in conjunction with BlackBerry smartphones and BlackBerry® Enterprise Server can now optimize their resources and enhance the flow of information to and from their mobile workforce.

The Praxedo Mobile solution comprises two modules.
The first module a Web interface designed for managing work orders, whether they involve technical inspection, delivery, on-site repairs or other similar tasks.
Branch directors, dispatchers and supervisors can use it to generate work orders, optimize scheduling by calling in “the right person at the right time” and analyze reports from the field.

The Web interface offers advanced parametering that allows companies to custom-configure the Praxedo Mobile application (e.g. generating data entry forms and work order templates).

Thanks to the second module, field workers can access the work order lists assigned to them on their BlackBerry smartphones. Orders are forwarded via a secure wireless connection.

Technicians, delivery people and other mobile workers find out from their BlackBerry smartphones what jobs they are to perform, along with all the information they need to do so (e.g. the address, type of equipment failure, number of parcels to be delivered).

Afterwards, they send their reports directly from the field. On their smartphones, they can access pop-up menus, check boxes, numerical fields and text fields. They can also take photos and record total activity time (the total working day, the length of each operation, etc.), materials used (e.g. spare parts) and mileage.

Field workers with GPS-enabled BlackBerry smartphones can even use their handset to facilitate navigation and discover the most convenient routes for getting from one service call to the next.

About Praxedo
Praxedo is a software publisher specialising in the provision of computerised services to field workers, particularly technicians, drivers/delivery personnel and sales representatives. Praxedo publishes the Praxedo Mobile operations management and geolocation platform. Widely recognised for its easy installation and use, the Praxedo Mobile platform adapts to the functional context of each individual company thanks to simple parametering. The use of a mobile terminal in communication with a PDA or a Smartphone, for example, enhances your company’s response capabilities and productivity.

Astute’s Innovation Recognised at Prestigious Wireless Leadership Awards

Astute’s Pioneering mCare Application Enables Doctors to Access and Update Critical Patient Records on the Move

Cambridge, UK - Astute Mobile Data Solutions, the UK’s premier application provider for the BlackBerry® platform, today announced that its innovation has again been recognised at the 2009 Wireless Leadership Awards, where it was named a finalist in the Innovation in Public Sector category. Astute was recognized for its mCare application, which was developed for Northern Doctors Urgent Care (NDUC), enabling physicians to access and update patient records from their BlackBerry® smartphones in real-time.

The Wireless Leadership Awards are designed to support innovation, celebrating and showcasing cutting-edge solutions that have a real impact on working efficiencies. With just three award categories (public sector, private sector and business impact) being recognised as a finalist for the Innovation in Public Sector category again demonstrates Astute’s leading position in empowering government and public sector organisations to reap the efficiencies of wireless solutions.

Simon Poole, Managing Director of Astute, said: “We are delighted to once again be recognised for our innovative solutions. The robust and secure nature of the BlackBerry solution makes it a great platform for delivering end-to-end business mobility solutions that improve efficiency with access to business critical applications.”

The mCare application was custom built by Astute for NDUC, a leading UK organisation for large-scale unscheduled patient care provision. mCare allows out-of-hours physicians to securely access and update patient records from their BlackBerry smartphones in real-time, while using the NDUC’s own Microsoft SQL clinical database and meeting all of the UK's stringent security requirements for safeguarding patient records and confidentiality.

In addition to having the most up-to-date patient records available during out of hours and at home consultations, mCare also enables physicians to securely send consultation details back to the control centre in real-time, saving almost an hour of record updating per shift. Moreover, as the information is temporarily stored in the mCare application, the clinician can work with the patient without worrying about losing data if they are out of wireless coverage.

Ben Stobbs, IT and Telecommunications Manager of NDUC said "It was vital to NDUC that the solution we implemented was secure, cost effective and saved time. Astute worked closely with us in developing the solution with our specific requirements in mind, combining access to clinical records with other value-added functionality."

John Harrison, CEO of NDUC further added, "There isn't a GP who doesn't like the BlackBerry solution because it's changed the way they work and helps them do their jobs better."

About Astute Mobile Data Solutions
Astute is an award-winning mobile solutions specialist; expert in developing technical solutions that improve organisational efficiencies by enabling people to work on the move. About NDUC
Established more than 10 years ago, NDUC is a leading out of hours care provider, serving patients across Northumberland, Newcastle, North and South Tyneside.

Outside of normal GP surgery hours, patient calls are answered by trained call operators at NDUC's Longbenton call centre. In most cases, they will arrange for a GP to call back and if the call is clinically urgent this will be within minutes. The GP will discuss the patient’s symptoms with them and decide on further action if required. In practice, this might mean a face-to-face consultation at one of NDUC's seven urgent care centres, a home visit by a doctor or by providing advice over the telephone.
