“VQ Mileage Tracker has been a run-away success since it launched this Spring,” says Harris Korn, president of Xpressions Inc., creators of VQ Mileage Tracker (www.4tracker.com) and VQ CarFinder (www.4carfinder). “Since then, we’ve added a number of new features based on user feedback, making VQ Mileage Tracker an even more efficient and effective tool for business people to track and report their mileage.”

New features in version 3.2.0 of VQ Mileage Tracker include:

  • Auto-Report Generation: Users can set VQ Mileage Tracker to automatically email them weekly, monthly or quarterly Mileage Report spreadsheets
  • Track to nearest tenth of mile/km: Users can track to the nearest tenth of a mile/km or to the nearest mile/km
  • Time Tracker: In addition to reporting start and end address and distance travelled, VQ Mileage Tracker now also reports trip duration in hours and minutes so users can more accurately track time spent driving for business
  • Advanced Address Capture: VQ Mileage Tracker can capture the address where the user parked even if they parked underground

“VQ Mileage Tracker saves business people time and spares them the frustration and inefficiency of manually tracking their mileage,” adds Korn. “It’s great for anyone who has to be on the road for work.”

“Most existing mileage tracking apps are what we call ‘digital pencils’, in that they require you to manually key in everything,” says Korn. “VQ Mileage Tracker does all of this for the user. It automatically notes the date and time, how far you drove, and the address you drove to every time you drive your car and now it can automatically email you all this information when you’re ready to submit an expense report.”

An Enterprise version of VQ Mileage Tracker has also been launched which enables companies to efficiently and cost-effectively track employee mileage.

VQ Mileage Tracker uses the GPS built into a BlackBerry smartphone along with in-vehicle Bluetooth® to automatically determine when the user starts and ends a trip. Owners of vehicles without built-in Bluetooth can purchase a VQ Bluetooth Car Charger (a Car Charger that also simulates in-vehicle Bluetooth) at www.4tracker.com, or they can use the app in semi-automatic mode – they just click on the app when they start driving, and then click the app again when they reach their destination. VQ Mileage Tracker does the rest.

“The business community’s response to VQ Mileage Tracker has been exceptional. Salespeople and field service staff see this as a great time saver. Management in sales, field services and finance see VQ Mileage Tracker as an efficient and cost effective tool to increase staff productivity and reporting accuracy. We’re also exploring enterprise-level licensing opportunities for companies to distribute VQ Mileage Tracker to their staff as a productivity tool.”

VQ Mileage Tracker is currently promotionally priced on BlackBerry App World™ (www.blackberry.com/appworld). VQ Mileage Tracker works on all current BlackBerry smartphone models that have built-in GPS and run BlackBerry OS version 4.6 or higher.

Kryos Velocity Announces New Product Dedicated to Creating Lotus Domino Apps for BlackBerry Smartphones

Velocity Designer for Lotus® Domino® allows you to create out-of-the-box enterprise applications for BlackBerry smartphones

Orlando, FL - Today at WES 2010, Kryos Systems Ltd. announced the beta launch of Velocity Designer for Lotus® Domino®. This innovative new software helps bridge the gap between Lotus Domino data and the growing need for enterprise mobile applications. With no programming background necessary, Lotus Domino administrators can extend access to Lotus Domino databases into the hands of remote staff. The Velocity Designer for Lotus Domino software can quickly and easily build BlackBerry® smartphone applications using simple menus, forms, and templates that leverage features of the BlackBerry platform.

“Building off our Velocity Mobile Platform technology and 15 years of Lotus Domino application development experience, this new product makes building mobile apps a breeze,” says Rick Hugie, Chief Technology Officer. “Enterprise applications for BlackBerry smartphones can be developed in a matter of days, right from within Lotus Notes, with Velocity guiding you through each step of the process.”

The benefit to the enterprise market is significant. Corporations can easily create remote access to back-office data and programs that run on the Lotus Domino platform. Traditionally it would require a team of specialized programmers significant time and money to accomplish the task. Velocity Designer for Lotus Domino handles the translation between the back-office systems and a wide variety of BlackBerry smartphones and allows businesses to connect the two with the skills of in-house Lotus personnel.

“The market for enterprise applications for BlackBerry smartphones is significant,” says Trevor Nimegeers, President & CEO. “Comscore reported a +21% growth in U.S. smartphone ownership in February 2010, with BlackBerry smartphones being the dominant player with 42.1% share of the U.S. smartphone platform market*. Smartphones are becoming mainstream and we’re making it easier for corporations to extend their existing technology investment in smartphones.”

Velocity for Lotus Domino will be launching to the marketplace in summer 2010, at the completion of beta testing. For more information or to participate in the beta testing, visit the Kryos Velocity booth at WES 2010 (booth #606), email sales@kryos.com, or phone 1-(866) 968-4826.

Prylos Launches Y-Dom Application for BlackBerry Smartphones

A job tracking and authentication solution that promises significant productivity gains in the personal and household service sector

Paris, France - Prylos, the specialist in professional mobile software developed for BlackBerry® smartphones, and a member of the BlackBerry® Alliance Program, today announced the availability of Y-Dom, a dedicated personal and household services application.

Y-Dom application for BlackBerry smartphones provides real-time tracking and authentication of job assignments performed by employees. Work order dispatching and scheduling, service call reports, alerts and timesheets are all handled on the employee’s BlackBerry smartphone, which is connected up to the company’s central information system via a wireless carrier network. Y-Dom also delivers real-time feedback to a central database. As a result, service workers spend much less time traveling back and forth to retrieve orders.

Best of all, the software does away with hardcopy timesheets, which were previously handled in two stages and required two signatures, so that processing, monitoring labor costs and invoicing takes less time and effort.

With 6 million* households in France interested and 2 million individuals already employing outside help, personal and household services are a booming business, with the sector boasting the highest job-creation rate over the past few years. The areas involved range from housekeeping and childcare to help with schoolwork and care for the elderly.

The rapid growth of this sector, combined with the need for professionals to upgrade their service offers and optimize their costs, led Prylos to develop the Y-Dom mobile application.

Bharti Airtel, Asia’s leading integrated telecom services provider, today announced that it has successfully completed the deployment of the “Traffic Police Enforcement Automation” system by providing BlackBerry® smartphones to all the officers of the Bangalore Traffic Police. Dr. V.S.Acharya, Hon. With this, the Bangalore Traffic Police department has equipped all 650 officers a BlackBerry smartphone, giving them access to the large central database of vehicles, drivers and offenders.

The initiative brings together all aspects of operational traffic policing in one unified system and is capable of pulling out data on more than two million cases in less than two minutes. The solution involves vigilance through video cameras, set up at different traffic signals and equipping every Bangalore traffic police officer with a BlackBerry smartphone and Bluetooth® printer, which gives them access to the history of the driver and the vehicle and allows the officer to issue challans on the spot with the click of a button. This secure login based application assists in determining if the offender has a pending fine against his vehicle. The solution also allows officials to monitor their staff and generate periodical reports on performance

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Praveen Sood- Addl CP Bangalore Traffic Police said “The BlackBerry solution from Airtel is a powerful tool, which not only enhances the visibility of a robust and a streamlined Traffic Enforcement System but also gives us an effective way to control traffic offences.”

As part of its efforts to develop applications for m-government initiatives, Bharti Airtel is working with various state governments to offer mobile based services for municipal corporations, NREGA and healthcare centers. An Airtel application has enabled property tax collection to go online, bringing down the queues in front of payment counters as well as enhancing revenue collection.
