China Telecom and RIM Launch the BlackBerry Solution in China

Targeting multinationals and local enterprises, the BlackBerry solution will deliver productivity gains, for the first time, to CDMA customers in China

Beijing, China and Waterloo, ON - China Telecom Corporation Limited (China Telecom) (HKEx: 00728; NYSE: CHA) and Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today launched the BlackBerry® solution for China Telecom enterprise customers in China.

Running across China Telecom’s EVDO 3G network, the BlackBerry solution brings together smartphones, software and services to offer China Telecom enterprise customers easy access to email, messaging, enterprise social networking, phone, organizer and multimedia features, as well as a wide range of mobile business and lifestyle applications. With BlackBerry smartphones, China Telecom enterprise customers will be able to enjoy the productivity benefits that come from being wirelessly connected to the people and information that matter most to them.

One of the largest 3G networks in the world, China Telecom’s 3G network covers over 20,000 counties and was the first commercialized 3G network in China. With the network support from China Telecom, BlackBerry smartphone users will enjoy advanced mobile communications with fast access the Internet, as well as a wide range of mobile applications and high-quality voice calls.

Following the launch today, China Telecom plans to offer its customers the powerful and feature-rich BlackBerry solution with a selection of service plans. China Telecom understands the needs of its enterprise customers and is pleased to launch the BlackBerry solution, providing an end-to-end integrated platform that delivers effective and efficient communications.

RIM is also delighted to launch the BlackBerry solution with China Telecom as China Telecom’s in-depth market and customer knowledge, along with its comprehensive network coverage, will help raise the presence of the BlackBerry solution among enterprise customers in China.

China Telecom will offer the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software and the EVDO 3G-enabled BlackBerry® Storm™ smartphone to its enterprise customers beginning in the second half of May. To make travelling easier than ever before, ÖBB announces the launch of the free app on BlackBerry App World™.

Future of mobile information

The SCOTTY mobil app provides up to date information including: train and bus schedules, maps of local areas and real-time information and updates relevant to all forms of public transport in Austria. The initiative, which started more than 2 years ago to better inform travelers in Austria, provides travel information in real-time, as well as maps of the surroundings. Beginning today, travelers will be able to get all this information, using the SCOTTY mobil application on their BlackBerry smartphone.
