Works with Vodafone to offer Managed Enterprise Communications Solutions
Taipei, Taiwan - Chunghwa Telecom today launched BlackBerry® smartphone and services from Research In Motion (RIM) in the local market, offering comprehensive and attractive mobile solutions for both enterprise customers and consumers. ChungHwa Telecom is offering customers the new BlackBerry® Torch™ smartphone as well as BlackBerry service plans on its 3G network. Chunghwa Telecom is also offering subscribers monthly International Roaming for BlackBerry data service covering 23 countries.
Chunghwa Telecom will provide enterprise customers with the BlackBerry® Enterprise Solution, which tightly integrates with IBM® Lotus® Domino®, Microsoft® Exchange and Novell® GroupWise® and uses advanced security and IT policy controls to enable secure, push-based wireless access to email and other corporate data.
For individuals and small businesses, BlackBerry® Internet Service incorporates a variety of services and allows customers to access up to 10 supported corporate and personal email accounts (including most popular ISP email accounts such as Yahoo! Mail and Google Mail) from a BlackBerry smartphone.
“Chunghwa Telecom sees great demand for the highly efficient push-based BlackBerry solution in Taiwan, especially in the enterprise market. Working with RIM to launch BlackBerry products and services, Chunghwa Telecom customers will now be able to enjoy highly secure and efficient push-based mobile access to email and corporate data,” said Shih Mu-Piao, President, Chunghwa Telecom Mobile Business Group.
“The BlackBerry solution offers a powerful and unique experience for Chunghwa Telecom’s enterprise customers and consumers, allowing them to stay easily connected to people and information while on the move,” said Norm Lo, Vice President of Asia Pacific at RIM. “In addition, BlackBerry Torch, together with BlackBerry 6, combines the benefits of a large capacitive touch screen and a BlackBerry keyboard and offers outstanding business, entertainment and social networking features, making it an ideal choice for both business and personal use. We are very happy to work with Chunghwa Telecom and we look forward to expanding our presence in both the enterprise and consumer market segments.”
The partnership with Vodafone will enable Chunghwa Telecom to offer a range of managed communications services to multi-national enterprises which are coming under growing pressure to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
“Through cooperation with Vodafone, Chunghwa Telecom can offer managed communications services to meet the needs of multi-national enterprises. Chunghwa Telecom is also introducing a number of special offers for international roaming data services to meet the needs of multi-national enterprise users,” added Shih.
The managed enterprise solutions offered through Vodafone Global Enterprise are designed to help multi-national companies manage their global telecoms needs as well as improve efficiencies. For example, Spend Manager is an online portal that enables customers to analyze their mobile usage on both a global and local level. Vodafone Global Enterprise Central Ordering is an online portal that enables multi-national customers to order devices and basic services.
As EU and Canada have waived visa requirements for visits by Taiwanese citizen, there will be an increased demand for international mobile roaming service from both outbound business and leisure travelers in Taiwan.
Jonathan Kriegel, Head of Business Development, Asia at Vodafone added, “Vodafone's presence includes Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and the US. Vodafone has investments and partnerships in more than 70 countries around the world, launching products and services that benefit many enterprises and consumers.
